Our engagement ring of the week is an antique diamond piece that would pair perfectly with any of the bridal trends forecasted for 2013. The face centers an Old Mine cut diamond framed by 12 additional diamonds set in an 18k gold floral style setting. The shank itself projects the same magnetism as the face with its organic, almost Corinthian column style flourishes. Our favorite thing about this gorgeous gem? It’s been in style for around a century and will continue to be stylish for centuries to come.
From touches of gold to ethereal whimsy, to glittering glamour – there is so much to love about 2013’s top bridal trends, and we just so happen to have the perfect engagement ring to pair with these up and coming styles.
A burgeoning bridal trend being heralded by bloggers and big name bridal publications alike is a return to true elegance, as we’ve seen demonstrated by the gilded looks gracing the runways of designers as diverse as Monique Lhuillier, Sarah Seven, and Temperley of London. As quoted in Bridal Guide “It’s a move towards sophistication,” says Alyssa Brown of Alison Events in San Francisco, the planners behind Seth Rogen’s recent nuptials. “For example, we’re planning an outdoor event right now, but there’s crystal on the table, and gold silverware and chargers,” Alyssa explains. “And a black tie is playing a huge role right now. It’s full-length gowns for everybody!”
Another of our favorite looks gracing the bridal runways which we’re excited to see reflected in more wedding day styles in 2013 is the ever so slightly shambolic and wildly whimsical gowns of top designers like Reem Acra, Claire Pettibone, and Bagdley Mishka. There’s a chaos to these gowns, be it in their roughly hewn edges, the riotous plumage of skirts, or ghostlike flowing top layers, that harkens back to the ethereal romanticism of the Widows of Culloden hologram from Alexander McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2006/7 runway presentation.
Of course, we would be remiss if we did not highlight the most fabulous of all rising bridal trends, one that is particularly near and dear to our hearts, Glittering Glamour. Jenny Packham always delivers with jewel-encrusted pieces in a variety of silhouettes that manage to sparkle yet maintain their elegance. This year Packham is joined by the likes of Monique Lhuillier and even Anthropologie's bridal line, BHLDN, with equally glamourous yet sparkle-laden styles. We love this style for its obvious showstopping capabilities; your wedding day is your one real-life red carpet moment, so we say bring the big glittery guns and own it.
