Sapphires have long inspired cultures across the globe. In fact, the word “sapphire” itself is a result of the jewel’s global reputation. The Sanskrit “sauriratna” became the Hebrew “sapphir” (most beautiful of things) and went through Greek and Latin before arriving at the modern day English “sapphire.” We love sapphire in all its permutations (blue, green, violet, yellow, red, orange), and as the sapphire symbolizes sincerity and faithfulness, we feel it’s a very thoughtful and romantic choice for an engagement ring.
