We’re packing up our treasure chest of jewels! If you’ve been following along with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, you may have seen our big news – Doyle & Doyle is moving to THE MEATPACKING DISTRICT!! We’ll share more details on the new location and a special announcement tomorrow – watch this space!
Thinking about our new home in the chic Meatpacking District, we realize that the streets of New York are like so many Fashion Week catwalks. Stroll through any neighborhood and you’ll see an endless parade of different looks. Fashion magazines and blogs have caught on and they love to showcase New York’s unique brand of street style.
Our assistant manager, the very stylish Matthew, noticed that many recent looks are featuring chunky, sculptural gold jewelry. A wide cuff, stacks of bracelets, and a monogrammed signet ring make a dramatic statement paired with a crisp blouse or tailored dress. It’s classic fall style.
Except for the beginning of the last century, when platinum held sway, gold has always been popular, and we love mixing and matching jewelry from different time periods. Try pairing an antique star-set diamond ring with a wide two-tone 1940s Retro bracelet, or a Victorian Etruscan Revival bangle with a vintage signet ring.
Endlessly versatile, gold can be manipulated using a variety of techniques, including engraving, repousse, chasing, and filigree. Our curated collection of fall gold jewelry shows the range of beautiful designs that are possible, sometimes all in the same piece. And check out the three dimensional lion heads on our vintage carnelian signet ring. Positively rip-roaring!
